Royal Mail/CWU Dog Awareness Week - Managers Guide & Support Documents

Royal Mail have issued a Managers Guide to all Royal Mail and Parcelforce Office/Depot Managers with resource materials to support managers during 2015 Dog Awareness Week - Mon 29 June - Sat 4 July.

Royal Mail and the CWU are working together jointly on the Dog Awareness Week campaign, supported by Battersea Dogs Home, Dogs Trust, PDSA, Blue Cross, Police and the National Dog Wardens Association. These organisations, if requested, will send a speaker along to a Delivery Office, where available, to speak to staff and give valuable expert advice on dog behaviour.

PicThe information and detailed documents have all been issued to CWU branches via Dave Joyce’s Letter To Branches (LTB428/15) this morning, the first day of the week long event.

Attached to the LTB are supporting materials:

Identify dog hazards! - capture them in the Walk Log.
Be Aware and be vigilant - raise awareness with customers/dog owners.

Take no risks - Do not put yourself at any risk - report all dog hazards to the manager.

Plus a detailed breakdown of activities being undertaken locally by Office Managers including posters being displayed and distributed by postal staff to Doctor's Surgeries, Hospitals, Medical Centres, Vets, Schools, and Community Centres etc; in order to get the message across to the public.

Later activities include distribution of a briefing sheet from managers to staff, and a hand-out on identifying dog hazards and ensuring remedial action is taken, updating WRAP, Zero Tolerance to taking risks and Safety Tips and FAQs.

The full LTB, complete with support documentation can be downloaded here
